A scarce volume, and considered one of the most monumental (and earliest) publications in fairy tale and folklore studies. Marian Roalfe Cox appears to be one of two women on the council of the Folk-Lore Society, of which Andrew Lang was (at this time) a Vice President. The other woman on the council was Charlotte S. Burne, who eventually wrote Marian Roalfe Cox's obituary. Joseph Jacobs was also on the council.
